The Site
A little information and background on this portfolio! The Layout
My goal with the portfolio's inaugural layout was to create a website that balanced function with
design, something aesthetically "pretty" and artistic, but also clean, organized,
and professional. I've always thought cherry trees were beautiful, and tend to come out
fairly well when drawn in Illustrator, so I selected that as the central image for the
layout. This version's title is "Sakura-iro", or "Cherry Blossom-colored".
The tools used to create this layout were Adobe Illustrator (typography and tree/flowers),
Photoshop (petals and blending), and ImageReady (slicing and rollovers). Thank
you very much to FreeContactForm.com
for their nifty contact form.Below you can view two rough drafts of this design concept. The first was rejected because the content of the site didn't integrate very well into the design, and the second because I felt the content was too isolated from the design. I think that the version you see now integrates the content and design nicely.
